This year Mother Nature celebrated Halloween dressed as Hurricane Sandy. Making landfall over the state of New Jersey, the category one hurricane crashed into a low front transforming into a nor’easter as it continued north. Megastorm Sandy was felt as far west as Michigan bringing with her heavy rains and in some cases a few feet of snow. Up and down the coast, residents experienced major flooding from the high storm surge and wind gusts up to 90 mph. Several hundred-thousands were left without power in the storm’s aftermath with New York and New Jersey suffering from the most damage. Sandy is going down in history as the largest (best dressed) storm to ever hit the northeast; the most expensive too.
